Three Packers Players Who Won't Last the Whole Season
Introduction
The Green Bay Packers have released their initial 53-man roster for the 2023 season, but not all of the players on that roster are expected to last the whole season. Here are three players who are likely to be cut or traded before the end of the year:
1. Amari Rodgers
Rodgers was a third-round pick by the Packers in the 2021 NFL Draft, but he has failed to live up to expectations. He has just 41 receptions for 411 yards and two touchdowns in two seasons. Rodgers is also a liability as a returner, fumbling three times in 2022.
The Packers have several other receivers who are more productive than Rodgers, including Allen Lazard, Christian Watson, and Romeo Doubs. Rodgers is also behind Randall Cobb on the depth chart, and Cobb is a more experienced and reliable receiver.
2. Kylin Hill
Hill was a seventh-round pick by the Packers in the 2021 NFL Draft, but he has also failed to live up to expectations. He has just 12 carries for 48 yards and one touchdown in two seasons.
The Packers have several other running backs who are more productive than Hill, including Aaron Jones, AJ Dillon, and Patrick Taylor. Hill is also behind Kyren Williams on the depth chart, and Williams is a more versatile and explosive runner.
3. Innis Gaines
Gaines was an undrafted free agent signing by the Packers in 2021, but he has failed to make much of an impact. He has just four tackles in two seasons.
The Packers have several other cornerbacks who are more experienced and productive than Gaines, including Jaire Alexander, Rasul Douglas, and Eric Stokes. Gaines is also behind Keisean Nixon on the depth chart, and Nixon is a more versatile player who can also contribute on special teams.
